Welcome to Traveling Tall and Small! My name is Aaron Rose and I am currently traveling around the United States in my RV with my cat Isabelle. Together we are exploring the country, doing our best to stay safe in the world we find ourselves in currently and trying to find new, cool, and interesting places to visit. Here we explore the world together and talk about what it’s like to experience new places, cultures, and food all while I continue my work in overcoming my own personal issues with anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, and social insecurities. Through the use of words, pictures, and the occasional video, I will share with you my adventures traveling along the way and how I overcome any hurdles, giving any tips and tricks I can that helped me out. There will be plenty of food to eat, people to meet, and campsites (when it’s safe to have them) & activities to review, so please join us on our adventures and see just what we get ourselves into.
Now, a little more about me. As I said above, my name is Aaron Rose, 38, and am the creator, photographer, and writer of Traveling Tall and Small. While TT&S was officially created in 2019, the concept and inspiration started back in 2017. Over the next two years there were a number of things I needed to overcome to make my dream a reality which I will discuss in some of my future blog posts. Incorporating my photography was a must, as I love to get out into nature and take photos of the things that catch my eye and have always been complimented on my skills despite being self-taught and never really believing I was anything near “professional” until the end of 2019 when I finally decided to embrace what everyone else had been telling me for the past two decades.
Major obstacles I've dealt with, overcome, or am still working to overcome include: low testosterone, bipolar disorder, anxiety, severe depression, back surgery, sleep apnea, social insecurities, and personal appearance. The reason I bring this personal information up is that I hope through following my travels others who deal with the same or similar things can feel encouraged to go out and explore as they see I am able to do so despite all that I have had to work through. I want to give hope to others that they too can have an amazing time even when the experience seems scary and so far out from what they've done before. Plus, unless I told you I suffered from these issues, you likely would never even know I was dealing with them unless you were a very closer personally friend of family member. I got very good at hiding these things about myself, but as I have embraced my abilities as a photographer, so have I embraced myself of having these health challenges to learn to control and overcome.
I look forward to sharing with you my journey and hope you want to join me along the way. Stay as long as you want, share your own adventures with myself and others, and, as time goes on, let’s see where we have ended up along the way.
Take care and remember to Travel Tall and Small
~Aaron
